About me Amy H.
Growing up in the country in Texas, we always had a menagerie of animals: cats, dogs, rabbits, horses. As an adult, I've had my share of companion animals as well. I've seen more than a dozen cats and several dogs from birth to death, either adopting them from shelters or fostering then adopting. But living in New York City and being a freelance writer who travels (a LOT) means that I can't justify having a companion animal right now. I don't think I can give an animal the love and affection they deserve. I am, however, confident I can give OTHER people's companion animals the love and affection on a part-time basis, because I love animals and believe they deserve as much care as can humanly be bestowed upon them.
