About me Paul W.

My house has a backyard with grass for your dog to play (not an apartment) and is less than a mile away from the Hayden Dog Park. I work from my home office for a large local technology company, so I am home the majority of the day. I grew up always having at least one dog in Kansas and have lived in Arizona for 9 years. I purchased my home in July 2013 after a complete remodel. I currently have a 2.5 year old Goldendoodle named Hobo, who is very submissive and full of energy. I got him when he was 7 weeks old. He absolutely loves to play with other dogs! We have been hosting guest dogs since January 2014 and have had some great experiences. We have hosted over 80 dogs, small to gigantic and puppies to older dogs. Hobo plays well with all of them; he is stupidly friendly, usually to a fault. He still has his puppy energy, so he can get a little rambunctious but we have calmer areas for smaller or not as energetic dogs as well. I ...

He still has his puppy energy, so he can get a little rambunctious but we have calmer areas for smaller or not as energetic dogs as well. I do ask that we schedule a Meet and Greet prior to your dog’s first stay. I do Meet and Greets at my home so you can see where your dog will be spending time, they can get familiar with all of the new smells, and both of you can meet Hobo. I typically do Meet and Greets at either noon or between 5-7:30pm on weekdays. If you would prefer another time I can typically accommodate. I know some trips are last minute, so for last minute bookings I ask that we at minimum talk over the phone. Please note that I do block off my calendar when the guest spots have been filled for the evening, but I do accept Meet and Greet requests during those days. Please just send me a note with when you would prefer to do a Meet and Greet. What to expect during your dog’s stay: • My goal is to let them run around and play as much as possible while ensuring they are safe. • I have a covered patio, a grass yard, and a pool (it has large steps and your dogs is welcome to swim!). • Depending on the time of year/weather, larger dogs spend as much time playing in the back grass as possible. Smaller dogs run around outside plenty, but usually spend more time inside throughout the day. The yard is center block all around with a steel dead-bolted gate. • Everyone eats separate to avoid conflicts and so they don’t eat each other’s food. • For hotter times of the year or for smaller dogs, your dog will get to go outside in the morning, at least three times during the day (usually 15-20 minutes each) and at night when it cools down. During my breaks from work, I let them out and give them fresh water. • Photos are sent roughly every other day. I send photos less frequent for longer stays. I don’t want to interrupt your travels, but want you to feel comfortable with how your dogs is doing. • I do ask that you let me know in advance when you would like to schedule drop-off and pickup. I am usually pretty flexible during the day if I know in advance. I do drop-off/pickups Monday-Friday from 7:30am – 10pm and Saturday/Sunday from 9am-9pm. I realize flights often get delayed, so you can send me your flight info and I have a flight tracker app. No worries if your flight is delayed, we can always just add an extra day if needed. • Dogs sleep in kennels inside or outside based on your preference. I have 3 larger kennels available (36”, 42”, 48”) or you can bring your own. I don’t like kenneling dogs, but I am responsible for any damages to my home so the options are limited. I have a lot of dogs stay that are not use to kennels, but I have never had an issue with them getting accustomed (being away from home, most dogs seem to find it comforting). • When they are inside during the day, I either let them lay around my office while I work (assuming they are quiet/don’t snore) or let them sleep in their kennel. • I do host multiple dogs at a time. Depending on the time of year and size of dogs, I will host 2-4 guest dogs at a time. I introduce dogs individually and watch initially to make sure everyone gets along. Wagging tails are always a good sign : ) We have never had any issues with this approach. I DO NOT accept dogs that are not friendly to Hobo during Meet and Greets! • Please bring your dog’s blankets, food, and any treats/toys you would like them to have. Really whatever you feel will make them the most comfortable. I have plenty of bowls, bones, and toys as well. • They will be happy, healthy, and pretty worn out! They may not even want to go home! You are always welcome to reach out to me regarding availability. I do keep by online calendar very up to date. As a note, DogVacay does block out a spot for the day dogs go home, so even though my calendar may show booked I could have an extra spot (or multiple) available that evening. For regular customers or smaller dogs, I try to accommodate requests whenever possible. From time to time I do increase my rates. For existing customers, I will always honor the rate from their first booking, please just remind me during your booking. Also I do offer a $2 discount per additional dog per night. Please feel free to send me a message with any questions or a day/time you would like for a Meet and Greet. I typically respond within a few hours. Thank you! Paul
